Bathroom Styles

An endless range of tiles, bathroom suites, fixtures and fittings are available, so many looks can be created whether we’re building an ensuite or a large luxury bathroom. You may have a particular style already in mind (whatever you want, we can build). Here are some examples of bathroom styles with examples of how we create them.

[ninja_form id=6]

Victorian

We create the victorian look by utilising black and white or patterned floor tiles. White porcelain wall tiles with freestanding baths, Full or half pedestal basins and compact toilets with a high-level cistern completed with victorian style taps and shower, finally a cast iron victorian radiator.

Contemporary

The contemporary looks created by using clean and straightforward minimal colours are trendy in the modern homes in the area. Sometimes lights and darks are used to create contrast. A modern suite to complement modern tiles. The bathrooms left as uncluttered as possible. Open space is a large part of the contemporary bathroom style. Modern taps and fittings of brushed metal are often used to complete the look.

Traditional

The traditional style bathroom is one of the most popular styles fitted in and around Essex. Comfortable and functional utilising neutral colours, wooden in places, finished with glass and tile features. Traditional bathroom suites are usually white with rounded edges. The bathrooms finished with traditional fixtures, fittings and lighting.

Farmhouse

If you want a rustic and country looking bathroom, then the farmhouse style is ideal. Utilising white wood panelling, lightly coloured walls, and small lightly coloured tiles floor tiles.  Farmhouse bathrooms house a classic rounded freestanding Bath with the appropriate mixer tap/shower.

Modern

There are many options with the modern bathroom. Suites are squarish with sharp edges with mixer and monobloc taps. Many different colours can be used when building a modern bathroom (which will depend on your tastes). The modern look allows the latest toilets, such as back to the wall. Wall hung and corner.

Rustic

Rustic bathrooms converge with traditional and farmhouse style bathrooms using lots of wood to create the rustic style effect. Both traditional and modern suites, fixtures and fittings can be made to work with rustic style bathrooms. Dark coloured floor tiles and wall tiles complement the wooden features.

Scandinavian

The minimal and straightforward IKEA style look. Scandinavian bathrooms are usually white in design using suites with smooth round lines. Everything is white, the suite, floor tiles and wall tiles. These bathrooms are light and airy and will look larger than it actually is.

Shabby Chic

The shabby chic look has become popular in recent years. Vintage furniture and tiles that look their age or otherwise new materials are sourced and then distressed purposely for the Shabby Chic look; pastel colours and floral patterns are the central features in this bathroom style. The bathroom can use brand new suites (designed to look old), or classic bathroom suites and fittings are obtained.

There’s More

These are just some of the styles we create. Any style is possible with all the materials, fixtures and fittings available. Whatever parts you need, we’ll always source them from reputable places that charge fair prices.

Essential Aspects Of Bathroom Design

Bathroom Walls

Before installing your floor, bathroom suite, shower fixtures and fittings, the first job is to do the work on the walls. Bathroom walls are significant. They have to look good, complementing the rest of the room while being water-resistant, particularly around the shower and bath. There are several ways to create a bathroom wall.

Tiles

When it comes to bathroom walls, your bathroom can be fully tiled or partially tiled (tiled around the bath and shower, of course), with the rest of the walls painted or panelled.

We generally use ceramic and porcelain tiles when it comes to tiling bathroom walls. Ceramics are much better than natural stone tiles, porous and more difficult to cut and shape. Natural stone is more prone to staining and scratching while being harder to clean, it’s. For these reasons, we recommend ceramic or porcelain, but of course, if you want natural stone, we’ll fix it for you.

Ceramic tiles are available in many colours and designs (in gloss, matt, satin and textured) in various shapes and sizes. Porcelain wall tiles are also an option but are less common. Porcelain is usually used for floors as they are less prone to cracking.

Panels

For faster and cheaper installations, wall panels are an option. They’re effortless to install and maintain and available in various colours in acrylic, laminate or PVC.

Acrylic

An engineered polymer is used for acrylic panels, which are the highest quality of all panels. Dense and heavy but thin, therefore more expensive than laminates or PVC.

Laminate

Believe it or not, laminate panels are made from MDF or plywood high-pressure laminate is is completely waterproof if and available in many different designs and finishes so good option if you want a specific look, for example, if you want a wood look bathroom, this is easy to achieve with laminate panels.

PVC

PVC panels are used when budgets are restricted that the cheapest of all the panels available.

Bathroom Flooring

Once your walls have been tiled, panelled, or painted, we’ll next install your floor. Bathroom flooring has to be water-resistant and non-slip. Finally, it’s got to work with the other bathroom features.

Floor Tiles

Tiles are the most popular material for bathroom floors. Completely waterproof, easy to clean, hygienic and will last a very long time. Bathroom floor tiles are available in many different colours, designs, shapes and sizes.

Stone

Stone flooring has become very popular in recent years as an alternative to tiles. Stone looks stunning when finished; however, it’s harder and more expensive to install. The stone must be treated once laid to make it watertight and need treating every couple of years again. Slate and marble is an alternative to Stone flooring.

Engineered Wood

Wood isn’t the best choice for a bathroom floor, but it’s possible by using high quality engineered wood flooring. Made up of many different layers makes it less likely to be damaged by water. You have to be careful not to get wood flooring too wet. It has to be dried after any water’s been splashed over it. Definitely not the best idea if you have small children. As an alternative, take a look at wood finish tiles or vinyl.

Child & Elderly Friendly Bathroom Flooring

While stone and tile look great, it’s definitely not the best choice if you have children or are elderly. If they slip over any of these materials, it’s going to hurt. Vinyl and rubber is a softer alternative to traditional tiles and modern stone, highly recommended for children and older adults.

Vinyl

Vinyl’s reasonably priced and easy to fit 100-per cent waterproof and hard-wearing. A vinyl floor will definitely last you 15 to 20 years. Available on a roll or as tiles. Please be aware vinyl isn’t the best non-slip flooring available, and while it is soft, it can be a little slippery when wet.

Rubber

Like vinyl rubber’s available in many designs and colours in tiles or on a roll, it’s straightforward to clean and will last a long time. Standard rubber or textured rubber is probably the ultimate in grippy bathroom flooring, the best bathroom flooring for elderly people.
